With the upcoming launch of Coombe Farm Organic, our organic meat business, we’ve had a huge challenge in sourcing packaging that meets performance requirements and our ethical approach to business.
Many of our competitors in this market supply meat to their customers in bulky polystyrene packaging which is, to put it lightly, a nightmare for customers to dispose of. There is also the environmental impact of this kind of packaging to consider..
We believe that we have found an alternative method of sending our Organic Beef and Lamb to customers that is far more convenient. Our meat will be packed into recycled cardboard boxes that are insulated with WoolCool™ sheep wool insulation. The sheep wool is cleaned to a standard that it is fit for use with food products before being sheathed in recyclable plastic. It can be re-used after the initial order has been fulfilled (plant bedding, arts and crafts and stuffing cushions are just 3 examples).
We’re pleased to pay the small difference in price to use these sustainable materials for our new venture. We think our customers will appreciate the difference too.
