Food & Farm Assurance
Proudly certified organic by the Soil Association
For 25 years we have been working to a series of stringent organic standards, which cover everything from animal welfare to how we manage our soils.
We have been long-time champions of regenerative farming, with this year marking our 25th year as organic producers, certified by the Soil Association, the UK’s largest organic certification body. The decision to work with the Soil Association all those years ago was clear cut – they demand some of the most stringent standards in the world of farming and food production.
It’s a method of farming and food production that is old-fashioned in method and demands a lot of hard work. Animal welfare is the top priority, fertilisers and pesticides cannot be used and GM ingredients aren’t permitted. This means the livestock we rear are properly free-range and medicines are only used when needed, never routinely. It results in respecting our soil and taking steps to actively encourage wildlife. Of course, it also means that our farmers need to work harder in every element, but we passionately believe it’s the right thing to do. It has always made much more sense to work with nature rather than against it and we’re rewarded by the diversity of flora and fauna we find across the farm and the quality of our soils.
We believe that organic farming brings benefits to everyone involved, from those working on the land, the animals living on it and consumers enjoying the food that’s produced. The A H Warren Trust has been instrumental in encouraging and guiding several other farms in the South Somerset area to move to organic dairy farming.
As well as Soil Association approval, the A H Warren Trust farms are also audited by Red Tractor, all of which not only ensures we are consistently working to the highest standards in terms of environment, animal welfare and traceability but that assurance can be given to the end consumer.
