Estates Worker incl. Agricultural, Commercial & Residential Kingshay Barton & Farming

Job Overview

The AH Warren Trust are a diversified mixed organic estate based in South Somerset. Currently managing beyond 2700 acres in the rural countryside surrounding Crewkerne, an opening has arisen for an Estate Worker to work partially between Kingshay Barton, our 5* luxury holiday let in Misterton and the existing Agricultural Estates Team.

We envisage that up to 20-hours per week will be spent at Kingshay Barton, Misterton – season and guest occupation dependent, with all further hours fulfilled within a 10-miles radius of Crewkerne Town whilst working within the existing Agricultural Estate team. This will be a minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime work available seasonally.

This will be a varied role for an enthusiastic person with a proven record of successfully working as part of a team, starting rate will be £12.60 p/hour.

Main Job Duties – Kingshay Barton:

• Having sole responsibility to tend the formal gardens and grounds ensuring everything is completed during changeover hours.
• Striving to ensure all areas are presented to the highest of quality and standards, up keeping our 5-Star Rating.
• Supporting our in-house Hillard’s Construction Ltd. team to complete reactive and preventative minor (non-skilled) maintenance repairs only.
• Day to day management of the luxury indoor Swimming Pool, Spa & Sauna suite including conducting the Health & Safety water testing, record keeping, dosing chemicals whilst strictly following H&S COSHH compliance.
• Day to day cleaning of the entire suite and liners/water bodies.
• Assisting the House Manager and Cleaning Supervisor with preparations for our guests, during the busy changeovers.
• Liaising with the Estates Team Supervisor to ensure works are all completed within Kingshay Barton’s guests changeover times.

Main Job Duties – Estates Team:

• Assist with seasonal horticultural activities such a mowing and strimming. This may include some use of farm and commercial machinery.
• Assist the estate team with any fencing or building projects.
• Assist the estate team with any horticultural projects or maintenance such as tree surgery, tree planting or hedgerow reconstruction.
• Assist with any water repairs and maintenance across the estate.

Job Requirements:

• Reporting to our Property Manager, the right candidate will have a warm and friendly personality with a key eye for detail and take pride in their work.
• Attending the house whilst completing the Pool Suite duties requires a mature and friendly nature with all our guests. Please note, they have use of the Pool Suite 24:7 and working swiftly and professionally, with bathers present, is to be expected.
• Collaborate with the Property Manager to swiftly and effectively address any queries or concerns our guests may have, ensuring their absolute comfort and satisfaction during their stay.
• Liaising with the Estates Supervisor to fulfill duties under his instruction, whilst joining our existing Estates team.

Additional Information:

• The Kingshay Barton changeover days are Mondays and/or Fridays, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
• We are open for 51 weeks of the year. 1 week per year we closed for Maintenance Week.
• The 1-hour daily pool suite maintenance/cleaning is 6-days a week, commencing 7am (or before). Days to be negotiated.
• Bank Holiday and Seasonal Holiday Working is necessary.
• Bespoke Kingshay Barton bonuses available.
• Due to the rural locations of all our farms/properties/farmland, you must have your own transport or your own means to travel to all sites.
• You will receive pro-rata holiday depending on days/hours worked (31 days, including bank holidays is our full time equivalent).
• Enrolment onto our company pension scheme on successful completion of 3 months service.
• Training and ongoing H&S certificates for the use of all machinery and chemicals.
• A need to be flexible and an understanding that the nature of working within Agriculture and Luxury Hospitality sometimes results in unexpectedly working unsociable hours.
